Earthquake shakes Ottawa

June 23, 2010 at 1:41pm EST. Magnitude 5.0 earthquake hits Ottawa region. The centre of the quake is 56km away at the south of Echo Lake, north of Ottawa near the Ontario border.

While the entire building was rocking pretty hard, I was reviewing some log files and thinking what the next step should be for the particular issue. I thought there was a huge truck passed by and was wondering what kind of stuff it was carrying. Suddenly, I realized it was earthquake. The building was emergency evacuated after 2nd tremors. Co-workers were standing outside and calling their loved ones but the entire mobile line was down at the time. People were scary but the most of them remained in calm. We were back to the building 5min after and I immediately called ZZ who was at home. She was scared as well but everything was fine.

It is the 2nd time I experience the earthquake. The last time was in 1998, Magnitude 6.0 quake at BaoTou, Inner Mogolia; the region I was live had 200KM distance away from the centre of the quake.
